We recently wrote an article called “How to control condensation inside the swimming pool building” which mentioned a unit called an Air Handling Unit (AHU) which uses a cold barrier to remove moisture from the pool hall air. One of our engineers on a service call to a pool owner in Knightsbridge London took the picture below;
As you can see its put more than a cold barrier in front of the moist air, it has turned the water into an ice block that’s restricting the air following through the unit causing the pool hall air temperature to fall. These AHU need to be maintained on a yearly basis to stop problems developing and we recommend that this is done during the summer months as the AHU is worked to its maximum during the 3 months from December to February when the outside air temperature is the coldest. Also remember that the efficiency of the heating battery fitted to these AHU’s are also affected by the input temperature from the boiler LPHW, which lots of pool owners turn down during the summer months?
